2016 Casa de Mouraz Bot DOC Dão BIO Red

49,90 c/ IVA

The grapes are grown in a non-mechanized vineyard over 100 years old (0.5 ha), a large co-plantation of different grape varieties such as Baga, Jaen, Tinta-Pinheira, Alvarelhão, Alfrocheiro, Bastardo and more (70% white grapes and 30% red grapes, without Touriga Nacional), planted together with fruit trees (olive, fig, peach, plum and others). The soil is granite and sand and the altitude is 350m. Natural vinification (co-fermentation) took place in an “open press” with no oak ageing. The white grapes were not destemmed. “Mid cherry red. Fabulously scented red fruits. Ripe but fresh red cherries. Gorgeous intensity of fruit but with a peppery dry character to balance the red fruit. Intense but shapely, long and succulent. Scented on the palate. Creamy even though there is no oak”. JR17.5

Description

Casa de Mouraz was founded in 2000. That year saw the start of this project of sustainable viticulture and the production of authentic, natural wines that respect and express all the richness of their terroir of origin. All the vineyards are cultivated organically and biodynamically, and cohabit with the local fauna and flora in order to maintain the ecological balance. The grape varieties grown are more than 30 and are exclusively Portuguese. All this biodiversity, as well as the love for this place, is reflected in the personality and complexity of Casa de Mouraz’s wines.
