Description
Founded in Bordeaux in 1855 by Ostende Rozès, a fine wine merchant from that city, Rozès began by importing and selling Port wine. Around the 1930s, Edmond Rozès, the founder’s son, created the “Porto Rozès” brand, choosing a bottle shape that would allow the brand and the Port wine to be identified simultaneously: this is how an “old-fashioned Portuguese” coated bottle came to be, with the neck wrapped in sulphur paper and a wax-sealed stopper. Rozès is the first Port wine house founded by Frenchmen. Since 1999 it has belonged to the Vranken-Pommery Monopole group.
