2017 Douro Boys Vintage Porto 1.5L

699,00 c/ IVA

For many, 2017 is the best Vintage Port year ever. Each of the Douro Boys chose their most promising blend from the 2017 harvest, and together they created a Vintage Port that will probably make history. It’s extremely complex, concentrated and at the same time impressively harmonious. A very seductive Port and hard to resist opening the bottle now – but this Vintage Port has the potential to age for many decades, and is definitely aimed at the next generations of oenophiles. The bottling took place at Quinta do Vallado and only 350 Magnums were produced.

Description

The Douro Boys are a group formed in 2003 that brings together five producers: Quinta do Vallado, Niepoort, Quinta do Crasto, Quinta Vale D. Maria and Quinta do Vale Meão. To mark the 15th anniversary, the Douro Boys created two wines from the 2017 harvest, which were sold exclusively at auction. 2017 is a historic harvest for the Douro. Douro producers compare the 2017 vegetation cycle with the legendary 1945 harvest, characterized by hot, dry months and extremely low levels of rainfall. Grape production fell by 20% compared to the ten-year average. Despite the extreme conditions, but thanks to many very old and resistant vines, the Douro produced excellent wines: wines marked by exuberant aromatic intensity, deep fruit and strong velvety tannins.
