The online shop Port & Friends Wine Store restarts the in-person events with the Tasting+Dinner 1863 Taylor’s Single Harvest.
“This remarkable Port is like a time capsule, offering a fascinating glimpse into a distant past”.
The harvest of 1863 was one of the finest of the nineteenth century and the last great Port vintage before Phylloxera spread throughout the Douro Valley.
The “Taylor’s” Port tasting will be guided by Robert Bower from “The Fladgate Partnership”. Robert represents the 8th generation of his family working in the Port industry. “The Fladgate Partnership” is the owner of several historical Port houses (Taylor’s, Fonseca, Croft, Krohn…), as well as of the Yeatman Hotel, among other famous hotels, as well as of the new World of Wine (WOW) venue.
Apart from the tasting, the event includes a dinner at the renowned “Os 3 Pipos” Restaurant, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The dinner will be paired with still wines from “Casa de Mouraz” – the first producer of organic wines in the Dão region.
This is the 1st event of the series “Provas Fora de Série” (aka “Out of the Norm” Tastings) held by Port & Friends Wine Store, aiming at the promotion of the Portuguese wine heritage.
